with
Follow-Up Webinar 15.00-16.30 GMT – 17 November 2026
This workshop is part of our Masterclass series. Each event will include an invitation to practice and embody your explorations. The follow-up session will be an opportunity to review your experiences, insights and questions.
The Invitation
Blending ancient wisdom, contemporary somatic practices, and neuroscience, this workshop invites you to reconnect with your embodied wisdom and explore the vital conversation between yin and yang within your being and relational world, discovering how working with yin-yang principles and awareness brings more ease, power, and flow to what you do.
We are Shaped by the World and Shape the World
In Taoist thought, yin and yang name two complementary qualities of energy — one active, driving, and outward; the other receptive, spacious, and inward — each incomplete without the other. This is not only an idea to understand; it is a rhythm alive in us and the world – in every breath, every step, every meeting between stillness and movement.
In terms of yin and yang, today we live in a world of imbalance — we feel it personally, and we see it around us. Yang energy is favoured, rewarded, dominant; we swim in a strive-drive culture that calls us, regardless of gender identity, to express our yang and suppress our yin, often without knowing we have made that trade. The current imbalance is costing us – in our health, our relationships, and our capacity to meet the world as it actually is.
Excessive yang shows up as too much muscular tension and a busy internal dialogue, an emphasis on forward and upward orientation, a reliance on willpower to keep us going. Yang drives us toward focused vision, linear thinking, heightened speed – and, left unchecked, exhaustion and diminished relationships.
Yin, by contrast, supports our rest and recovery: relaxed muscles, softening, slowing, fluidity, yielding, receptivity, listening, intuition, systemic and relational awareness. Its influence is integrating and stabilising, over a longer timeframe than yang tends to reward.
The Workshop
This workshop is a journey of inquiry beyond our “try hard,” over-efforting, performative self, toward achievement held with grace and centred presence — and a redefining of power itself.
This is not only a matter of reattuning to yin — trusting the strength in receptivity and stillness, rather than mistaking them for passivity or absence — but also how we are expressing yang: moving from a version that dominates rather than directs, that pushes rather than moves with purpose.
One of the most significant threads in that territory, for me, is my study of Tai Chi with my teacher, Chungliang (Al) Huang, whom I first met forty years ago. Long before my Leadership Embodiment learning, Chungliang showed me how movement connects to our psychology, our emotions, and the wider arc of our human story — a relationship that continues to shape how I teach today. As he says:
“Tai ji is not about the form, it is about how we reach for the rice packet from the top shelf of the supermarket.”
Our explorations will include:
This is inquiry, not fixing. We work through the felt as much as the conceptual — because that’s where change takes root.
Who this is for:
This workshop is for experienced and curious somatic explorers. It will be of particular interest to Leadership Embodiment practitioners as we explore and work with principles and elements that underlie what we do in those workshops.
Facilitated by Paul King
Paul King is a somatic practitioner and coach with over thirty years of experience working with coaches, consultants, and leaders. He is the first European-certified trainer in Wendy Palmer’s Leadership Embodiment lineage and co-founder of The Beyond Partnership.
His work is integrative by nature — drawing on the Inner Game, Leadership Embodiment, polyvagal theory, Feldenkrais, complexity thinking, neuroscience, NLP and Taoist philosophy as a connected body of understanding developed through decades of practice, teaching, and inquiry. This workshop reflects that approach.
