Transpersonal Leadership Coaching Programme

WHY THE TRANSPERSONAL IS SO IMPORTANT HERE AND NOW

People have, and have always had, a yearning to lead a better life – a life of meaning and purpose. And it’s distressing when we look around us and find that despite years of effort we are living still with constant wars, inequities and polarisation, on a planet we’ve trashed, with rates of depression and anxiety soaring.

That’s one story we can tell: that humanity is going to hell in a handbasket. However, in what many believe is a time of Great Transition – a turning away from dying and not-fit-for-purpose narratives – fresh life is striving to emerge.

Through this lens we’re able to see that alongside rage and grief, as humanity awakens to our current global crises many are seeking to embrace more life-enhancing ways to inhabit this Earth. Every crisis also opens opportunities for change, and we can see that the themes of our era are both mourning and regeneration.

It’s confusing to get our heads around these twin experiences, so entangled are our challenges, desires, fears and hopes. This capacity to both look into the darkness and turn to the light is key to Transpersonal Leadership Coaching.

Coaches and leaders have a key role to play during this time, to help others navigate these turbulent waters with intention and grounded optimism. But how?

THE ROLE TRANSPERSONAL LEADERSHIP COACHING HAS TO PLAY

Most coaching trainings address only performance and outward behaviours. Transpersonal Leadership Coaching is one of the few programmes that offers coherent, time-tested and robust models that go deep and wide enough to engage with the complex and systemic challenges that leaders face today. The Transpersonal Leadership Coaching framework brings together depth approaches with practical tools for working effectively with both loss and creativity, with both our fearfulness and our optimism – leading to real change.

The enemy to change is a feeling of meaninglessness and cynicism: as coaches, leaders and individuals engaged with the world, our role is to re-animate, revitalise and re-enchant our communities to enable each and every one of us to make our contribution. This is more urgently needed than ever.

WHAT IS TRANSPERSONAL?

Transpersonal Leadership Coaching presents an approach to work and life in which our identity extends beyond the individual to encompass wider aspects of life, including our ecosystems and the cosmos.

The transpersonal emphasises our interdependence. Our individual identity is connected to the collective and the universal, just as our psyche is nourished by the spiritual – that which fires and sustains our spirit. Transpersonal Leadership Coaching reconnects us to the spirit of the wider world and humanity, breaking out of the individualistic mindsets that have proved so troubling to ourselves and so damaging to our planet.

Our Transpersonal Leadership Coaching programme is based on Psychosynthesis, a psycho-social ontology developed by Italian psychiatrist Roberto Assagioli during the early 20th Century. His aim was two-fold, to go beyond the inward focus of psychoanalysis to underline that the individual is “a cell of the whole”; secondly, to actively engage with our Spiritual Intelligence (SQ) and re-introduce ‘secular spirituality’ into the everyday.

The Transpersonal builds on Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and engages with eco-systemic thinking to give us deeper and broader perspectives on the challenges we face, restoring frames of meaning that can sustain us all.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Our programme is for experienced coaches and leaders who want to bring the transpersonal dimension and techniques into their work to guide and support others more effectively, leading toward greater purpose, intention and meaning in their lives.

While we recognise the realities at play in the modern work environment, this programme does not focus on performance improvement, goal setting and the bottom line. We invite you to engage instead with the bigger forces that underpin them all, and that will shape the workplace and world of tomorrow. Nothing more or less than supporting individuals to lead better lives, for themselves, others and the planet.

HOW DOES THE PROGRAMME WORK?

The original 2-day workshop was designed in the early 2000s by Hetty Einzig, coaching ‘grandfather’ John Whitmore, and Diana Whitmore – all deeply trained and experienced in psychosynthesis. Hetty worked with John for many years, shaping the field of Transpersonal Coaching and extending the reach of coaching within organisations.

Joined now by Christopher Connolly, Hetty and Christopher have designed an enriched programme drawing from the roots of the transpersonal and also from Christopher’s PhD research into transition expertise to strengthen its relevance for today.

Our programme is framed in the context of the Great Transition, offering effective models and tools based within a robust, ethical framework of ‘secular spirituality’ (Einzig 2017). Our aim is to empower coaches, leaders and their partnerships to help others navigate transitions with skill and purpose, and action change for pro-social, beyond-self goals.

HOW YOU’LL BENEFIT

This 3-module programme will give you values-based coaching principles and practical techniques to help you, your clients and teams discover the power and effectiveness of authentic agency in service to meaningful life and work.

Practising transpersonal coaching will help you understand how purpose, self-mastery, multiplicity, dis-identification and contextual intelligence are all paramount to authentic and effective leadership of oneself and others.

PROGRAMME PATHWAYS

As an introduction to the transpersonal, Module 1 stands alone. So do participate in just Module 1 – and decide afterwards if you wish to continue with further modules.

If you want to progress, modules must be attended sequentially. It is possible to participate in Modules 2 and 3 in your own time frame, however we recommend completing all three modules within the same 12 month period, as the modules build on each other, deepening your understanding and practice. Taken together they make up a robust programme that strengthens and embeds the learning, making for a more enriching experience.

PARTICIPANT REVIEWS

Vibrant discussions and a generosity in sharing of experience

“This is an impressive transpersonal coaching programme, incorporating psychological research, coaching expertise and practical relevance. It is designed for coaches working at depth with clients who are navigating much uncertainty and complexity in these anxious times.

The pace, rhythm, flow and overall design of the program was well crafted and hugely effective. Hetty and Christopher complimented each other superbly and the program benefited from (and showcased) their collective expertise. The programme never felt scripted, it had an emergent feel, as both Hetty and Christopher made space for emergence and responded so well to the learning needs of participants which added to its richness. The participants were all highly experienced (coaches in the main) which allowed for vibrant discussions and a generosity in sharing of experience.”
Deirdre McLoughlin, Developmental Coach and Coach Supervisor

Reflects everything going on in the world around us

“This is a fabulously rich course and much needed to help coaches work with clients in a way that reflects everything going on in the world around us. Hetty and Christopher offer their wisdom and experience generously and the vast experience of the other coaches present is very enriching. Lots of practice, lots of work on self, opportunities for peer reflection on client work and new friends made. If you haven’t thought about it – do!”

I cannot think of more important work than this

“Do not hesitate to explore joining this programme. Not only will you be in excellent hands, transpersonal perspectives are exactly what are needed in a world that is struggling to right itself. I cannot think of more important work than this.”

Invaluable for helping leaders navigate complexity

“The work with subpersonalities adds a profound layer to the coaching conversation, allowing coachees to uncover possibilities that were previously out of reach. This practice is invaluable for helping leaders navigate complexity. Hetty, your depth and expertise are a true gift for coaches seeking to enrich their coaching approach.”
Manu Henrard – Executive Coach

Space that was at the same time inspirational and safe

“Thank you for the amazing two days at the Transpersonal Coaching Programme Level 1. You created space that was at the same time inspirational and safe. This made it effortless to understand the transpersonal coaching concepts; and made these concepts real through exercises. I experienced priceless insights that will forever change the way I coach.”
Tanya Durlen

I found the spiritual dimension of the work extremely rewarding and refreshing

“Firstly, Transpersonal coaching as a practice appealed to me because of its depth, breadth and purposeful DNA. I was richly rewarded at every moment throughout the programme, not only because of the wonderfully talented Hetty and Christopher, but by being with others, practising and asking questions, sharing observations, being curious and open, enjoy the freedom of learning, held within specific time boundaries, then to absorb, taste and play with what was on offer…
The most useful aspects were trying out the tools for oneself, practising, noticing how they land for myself and others, and then leaving with one’s own purpose clarified into words. I also found the spiritual dimension of the work extremely rewarding and refreshing, deepening my interest and somehow offering me a sense of finding a real home for me as coach, and me as a thinking, feeling and committed human being.”

Kate Bradshaw, Executive Coach

A truly profound and deep learning experience

“The programme provided me with a truly profound and deep learning experience. Hetty’s relaxed approach, delivered with warmth, laughter and joy, coupled with her openly sharing her deep reservoir of knowledge and experience created a rich and participative learning environment”
Steve Twort
